About The Role
We are seeking technically strong, analytically curious individuals to join us for a 12-week summer internship within our Human Resources department. The intern will help modernize and automate our HR data infrastructure.
This is not a traditional HR internship. The selected candidate will work directly with the SVP of Human Resources to build the foundational analytics and reporting systems that support executive decision-making, workforce planning, and organizational strategy. The primary focus of this internship is to transform raw HR and recruiting data into clean, structured datasets and executive-ready dashboards using modern analytics and AI tools. This internship is designed to build esVolta’s first fully integrated, executive-ready HR analytics infrastructure.

Flexible; option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. Willingness to be remotely based and ability to travel to company offices and project sites.

About The Role

- Built an automated data ingestion process from Insperity (PEO) and JazzHR (ATS)
- Developed a structured HR master dataset
- Designed and launched an executive-ready Workforce Intelligence Dashboard
- Created documentation to support ongoing automation and scalability
Core Responsibilities
Data Integration & Automation
- Audit available workforce and recruiting data within Insperity and JazzHR.
- Design repeatable export or API-based data ingestion processes.
- Automate recurring HR reporting workflows.
- Reduce manual spreadsheet-based reporting.
- Clean and normalize workforce and recruiting datasets.
- Create standardized data models for consistent reporting.
- Define KPI calculations and metric logic.
- Build a structured HR data framework for future scalability.
- Build a Workforce Intelligence Dashboard using Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar tools.
- Develop clear, executive-level visualizations covering:
- Headcount and growth trends
- Attrition and new hire turnover
- Time-to-fill and recruiting funnel metrics
- Open requisition aging
- Workforce distribution and compensation trends
- Implement clear red/yellow/green indicators for operational visibility
- Explore AI tools to assist with data transformation, automation, and summarization.
- Recommend opportunities to streamline reporting using generative AI.
- Identify opportunities for predictive or trend-based workforce insights.
- Translate workforce data into actionable insights.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Present findings and final deliverable to HR leadership.
Who You Are
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning).
- Experience working with structured datasets.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar visualization tools preferred.
- Familiarity with SQL and/or Python preferred.
- Experience working with APIs or automated workflows is a plus.
- Comfortable experimenting with AI tools for workflow automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential data.
- Self-directed, proactive, and execution oriented.
- Prior HR experience is not required.
Compensation, Location & Benefits
The hourly rate for this position is listed below. The actual hourly rate offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
| $30.00 per hour | 40-hour work week |
