About The Role
We are seeking motivated and talented individuals to join us for a 10-week summer internship within our Asset Management and Operations team. The ideal candidate will have an interest in clean energy, process improvement, and AI-enabled workflows. The intern will work with the Asset Management and Operations team to improve operational processes across our fleet of battery energy storage sites located in California and Texas. The intern will lead and contribute to gap analysis, data governance, and Ai-assisted document verification and centralization.


You will gain hands-on exposure to battery energy storage systems (BESS), operational processes, and digital asset management tools while contributing to meaningful projects that improve operational efficiency and data organization. The position will work closely with the engineering, environmental health & safety, and IT teams to set-up meaningful processes and procedures that align with our business model. This role is ideal for students interested in renewable energy, operations, project management, data governance, and the application of AI to business processes.


Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct a gap analysis on standard operating procedures (SOP) for Asset Management and Asset Operations focused on spare parts tracking, contract summary and operational handover transitions, and data tracking.
  • Lead an effort to collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety team in developing procedures and schedules that integrate operational safety workflows into each project.
  • Lead integration of AI-assisted contract extraction and verification in our project system of record, Sitetracker. Validate AI outputs and serve as the primary contact with our vendor. 
  • Complete required training for assigned tasks.
  • Take on additional responsibilities aligned with project and business needs.
  • Present project work and findings to the esVolta management committee.
Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site‑specific rules always.
  • Participate in required safety orientations, trainings, and toolbox talks.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, and ensure it is worn correctly.
  • Report unsafe conditions, near‑misses, or incidents immediately to a supervisor or safety lead.
  • Ask questions and seek guidance before performing any task you are unsure about.
  • Practice safe computer and governance habits, and proper handling of sensitive information.
  • Support a culture of safety by modeling attentive, responsible behavior.
     
Who You Are
  • Course or degree program in Business, Engineering, Operations, Energy Systems, or experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and interest in operational process improvement or digital transformation.
  • Interest in clean energy, battery storage systems, and AI-driven process development.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Able to translate ideas into strategies, seek guidance as needed, and effectuate execution.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, office productivity tools, spreadsheets, and common software.

Compensation, Location & Benefits
The hourly rate for this position is listed below. The actual hourly rate offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.

 
$30.00 per hour40-hour work week

Flexible; option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. Willingness to be remotely based and ability to travel to company offices and project sites.
