Job Description
esVolta seeks an O&M Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of onsite technical support for esVolta’s growing fleet of operational front-of-meter utility-scale battery energy storage projects. The O&M Manager will report to the facility Operations Director, and will collaborate closely with the Company’s development, construction, commercial operations, legal, and finance teams to ensure high level of operational performance and uptime through the operations and maintenance of the physical assets working in close coordination with BESS, EMS, and other service providers.

Key Responsibilities
The BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) O&M Manager plays a critical role in supporting the deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge battery energy storage infrastructure. Working as a key technical support professional, this position is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability and safety of battery storage systems across utility-scale projects.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of utility-scale energy storage assets and battery systems
  • Oversee contractual obligations with Battery OEMs, system integrators and other storage-specific vendors.
  • Research and evaluate energy storage technology providers and O&M service partners for future projects.
  • Coordinate with facility operators to optimize battery performance and maximize system availability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of battery system failures, degradation issues and performance deviations.
  • Develop storage-specific O&M procedures, including battery management protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain proficiency with relevant standards (OSHA, NERC, NFPA 855, UL 9540) and grid operator requirements.
  • Generate detailed battery performance and health monitoring reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide on-call technical support for battery-related issues and emergency response.
  • Implement automated data collection systems for battery performance monitoring.
  • Deliver technical guidance on battery operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement & utilize analytical tools to assess battery degradation, efficiency and reliability metrics.
  • Drive reliability improvements through collaboration with battery vendors and service teams.
  • Track battery-specific O&M costs and forecast long-term maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations Engineering to analyze battery round-trip efficiency, availability and performance against capacity guarantees.
  • Enforce safety protocols specific to battery storage facilities and hazardous materials handling.
  • Identify and report safety concerns related to battery systems and electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper use of battery testing equipment and maintenance tools.
  • Create an inclusive workplace focused on innovation and operational excellence.
  • Manage and develop team members responsible for battery storage operations.
  • Participate in recruiting technical staff with energy storage expertise.
  • Maintain clear communication channels regarding battery facility goals and performance.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in energy storage operations to build client confidence.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical technology, electronics, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in electrical systems maintenance
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams in industrial or energy storage facilities.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budget management and financial planning.
  • Expert knowledge of battery storage systems, high voltage electrical systems, and facility operations.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience presenting to executive stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and safety program management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software systems.
  • Lead emergency response planning and crisis management protocols.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff and customers.
  • Direct facility security operations and contractor management.
  • Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
  • Guide the development of best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Drive innovation in facility operations and maintenance strategies.
Compensation
The anticipated annual salary plus bonus for this position is listed below. The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.

 
Title: O&M Manager, CAISOSalary: $130,000Bonus: 25%

Location
  • Flexible, option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. For work-from-home option, must have a dedicated workspace and strong internet connectivity.
  • Requires ability to travel to company offices, project sites and business meetings as needed.
